Two photographs from my own home. I love beautifully crafted spaces and would say my style is Contemporary Luxurious with a dash of fantasy. More to follow soon.

Luxus Brut breathes the spirit of hand lettered signage of the Fifties. It’s a formal script, inspired from a well concealed shop portal in Vienna/Austria. Large and distinctive capital letters (that won’t share the baseline with lowercase letters), wide spacing as well as a low x-height make it an excellent choice for posters, magazine headlines, logotypes, branding and any design that requires a touch of luxury and sensuality. This Open Type font comes equipped with endings, underlining swashes and a powerful contextual alternate feature. When used with OpenType-savvy applications (such as InDesign CS, Illustrator CS, Photoshop CS or XPress 7) it automatically chooses from three complete sets of capital characters and four sets of lowercase characters, ensuring perfect connections. Luxus Brut covers Western and Eastern European character sets including Baltic, Romanian and Turkish. 830 glyphs in total.

Hard on the outside and padded on the inside, each handmade leather BookBook from Twelve South is actually a clever protective case for your MacBook Pro. Zip it up and the solid 80-buck wrapper looks like a vintage hardback instead of a thief-magnet. http://twelvesouth.com/products/bookbook

“Power” is the first single from American rapper Kanye West off of his fifth studio album Dark Twisted Fantasy. The song features singer Dwele and is co-produced by Kanye West and Symbolyc One. The song strongly features a sample of “21st Century Schizoid Man” by British progressive rock band King Crimson. Impressive video on his blog. Such a talented artist, just hope he got his act together and he stays out of trouble. Really looking forward to this one.

The first images of Dolce & Gabbana’s new fall campaign featuring Madonna have been released. Photographed by Steven Klein in Harlem, the black and white pictures portray Madonna as a glamorized housewife—at the local market, at lunch with the family, with the baby in the bedroom, and with granny the seamstress. “It’s a testament that fashion is part of life and not vice versa,” said Domenico Dolce.

It’s fair to say that type and ink only ever meet on a printed page. In this series of images, the two elements are presented to us in a way that is a little more unusual. Images of black and white ink in water are accompanied by small typographical letters to generate strange yet captivating forms that appear to float effortlessly in the air. A contemporary tribute to traditional methods of print. Absolutely beautiful.

When I first saw Neil Krug’s work on Scott Hansen’s Blog it was like looking at some lost photo album. I didn’t quite know whether it was new trying to look old or just plain old. Done right, the retro-lofi style can be very powerful, and Krug executes to perfection. Apparently he starts off with expired Polaroid film to achieve this vividly psychedelic color palette. Artists in many mediums are turning back to more traditional methods and incorporating vintage technology into their process. The human eye craves authenticity and so often work that is purely digital falls short in sometimes imperceptible ways. Neil recently worked with artist Devendra Banhart, producing some interesting promotional photography that suits the singers style and genre. He also collaborated with model Joni Harbeck for a photography book entitled PULP BOOK.
